本次修订的GB/T 18856《水煤浆试验方法》分为7个部分，本部分为GB/T 18856的第4部分。
本部分代替GB/T 18856.4-2002《水煤浆质量试验方法 第4部分：水煤浆表观黏度测定方法》。
本部分与GB/T 18856.4-2002相比主要作了如下修改：
——增加了试验报告一章（本版第10章）。
本部分规定了用同轴圆筒旋转黏度计测定水煤浆表观黏度的术语和定义、方法提要、试剂和材料、仪器设备、试验条件、试验步骤、结果计算、方法精密度和试验报告。
本部分适用于各种水煤浆。
